Construction Volunteer Leads
-- 10 WSC members Serve as the primary “face”
for the affiliate in providing a superb volunteer experience
by facilitating volunteers through construction of new homes
and repair work on EKC worksites. Increase construction
skills throughout the year, and work closely with
Construction Site Staff as well as on additional affiliate
projects. |
Volunteer Host - 1 WSC Member
Handles primary responsibility of recruiting,
retaining, and recognizing individual and groups of
volunteers, dividing time between sites and the office.
Duties include online scheduling, daily welcoming of
volunteers, running the recognition program, tracking
attendance, placing and managing office volunteers, and
working closely with the Volunteer and AmeriCorps manager.
Family
Services Support - 1 WSC Member
Aid in the selection of our homeowners, assist with training
on becoming a new homeowner, arrange and supervise homeowner
classes, network with volunteers who aid our families
through the homeownership process, all in close support of
the Director of Family Services.
Neighborhood Revitalization Specialist - 1 WSC
Member
Builds relationships in communities around our sites,
networks to identify and implement community projects, and
manages all aspects of HFHEKC’s Neighborhood Revitalization
Initiative, working closely with the NRI Team. |
Sustainable Building Specialist - 1 HFHI VISTA Member
Assists the affiliate to build responsibly for the community
and earth, working closely with the Construction Supervisor
Habitat Store & Campaign Coordinator - 1 WSC VISTA
Member
Leads research, special projects, presentations, and other
administrative functions in support of the Resource
Development Team and toward the successful new launch of the
Habitat Store. |
7 steps to applying to the HFH EKC AmeriCorps Program:
Note: the below instructions apply only to WSC positions listed
above. To inquire about an AmeriCorps VISTA position through HFHI,
contact Construction Manager Lee Brannam at

1. FIRST:
a. Review the program overview
and appropriate position description (links above).
b. Consider what makes this particular program appealing and a good fit
for YOU!
c. This will be a socially and physically challenging 10 ½ - 12 months. Are
you up for it?*
d. Budget & consider: how will you plan to live on the $1125 a month stipend?
2. Are you Ready? Complete an AmeriCorps application online :
a. Visit the
National AmeriCorps website.
b. Next to Step One, select Housing from the drop down list.
c. Next to Step Two, Select Washington from the drop down list.

3. If listed for your position below, you need to download, Save as,
and answer the appropriate Application Add-on and email it to
andyv@habitatekc.org after you apply through the National AmeriCorps
website:
Both your online application (#2 above) and
Application Add-on are required for your application to the program to
be considered.
4. Application deadline has been extended to y June 22nd.*
However, we encourage you to
apply early, as we often stop accepting applications early if we receive
a large response.
5. Wait. You should be contacted to schedule an interview and an
overview of the program by email or phone.
6. Acceptance notice will be given by July 15th.*
7. If accepted, your complete enrollment paperwork will be due by
August 1st (including a copy of your social security card, your passport
OR driver’s license and birth certificate.)*
