Donating to Habitat for Humanity of East King County

Donations are our lifeblood. We rely on you--your time and your treasure--to help us meet our goals of providing affordable housing to deserving families. There are a number of ways you can give.

Donate Online with a Credit Card

Right here, right now you can donate online using Visa or MasterCard and the money will be directed to Habitat for Humanity of East King County. This is a secure transaction using Acceptiva Secure Online Transactions.

Donate via Mail

Complete the Donation Form and send it to us with either a check or your credit card authorization. The form enables you to specify things like making monthly or quarterly payments instead of one lump sum donation.

Land Donations to our Legacy of Land

When you donate land, Habitat EKC can either build on the property, adding to our unique Legacy of Land, or sell it and use the revenue for homebuilding, homeowner education, operations or endowment.  For many individuals and corporations, this is a smart option for disposing of surplus real estate assets. 

Legacy of Land

In the fall of 1998, Habitat EKC launched a new and challenging land lease policy which we believe will have enormous value and impact on future low income housing needs in our area. It is a simple two-part program:

1.  It was decided that all future land acquisitions would be held in trust by Habitat EKC and that future sales to homeowners would be for the home and leasehold interest in the land.

2.  All sales are to be accompanied by a buyback option which will establish the future value of the home based upon an annual adjustment in the amount of the annual change in the median income for the local area.

This policy came about as a natural development from the increasing difficulty we were experiencing in obtaining building sites. Since its inception in 1998, the land lease policy has enabled the affiliate to buy back homes from Habitat homeowners and then re-sell those homes to newly selected families.

This unique policy ensures that the homes we build will remain in the affordable housing stock in East King County, thus establishing a Legacy of Land for the Habitat EKC affiliate.

Donate Gifts of Stock

Donating securities or appreciated assets are one way to give and for some they provide added tax benefits which allow them to give more at no greater cost. This may be an option for you; speak with your financial advisor, attorney or accountant to see if it might be a good choice.

In-Kind Donations of Goods and Services

The donation of goods and services offsets our costs and allows us to run the Habitat for Humanity program in a cost effective manner.  In order to continue to build affordable homes we need the donation of professional labor i.e. Electricians, Plumbers, Heat Installers, Roofers, etc.  In addition, we appreciate goods that can be used on our construction site.  Those that can not be used on our site can be donated to Second Use which benefits our program as well.

Ride Green Build Green

Are you a cyclist? Are you passionate about supporting green affordable housing?  Join us for the RGBG Ride  from Seattle to San Francisco and help to raise funds for a Habitat EKC green affordable home.

Grants and Foundation Awards Programs

Are you associated with a public or private foundation?  If so, please let Habitat EKC know the requirements and process involved in submitting a grant request for funds.  As a 501c3 that provides shelter for families with children, we are a good fit for foundations who give to Health and Human Services initiatives.  We appreciate your referral.

Memorials and Gifts of Honoraria

For the extraordinary people in your life, this is a gift that will keep on giving. Whether you are celebrating someone's birthday, anniversary or memory, honor gifts to Habitat for Humanity are a thoughtful and lasting tribute. Complete the Donation Form and send it to us; if you wish, a personal card will be sent to the person (without mentioning the amount of the gift).
