Habitat EKC Partners with Eastside Domestic Violence Program

Habitat EKC has been partnering with the Eastside Domestic Violence Program (EDVP) in an effort to collaborate with other organizations in the community and serve more families. Recently, Habitat staff, AmeriCorps and volunteers joined EDVP to assist in renovations.

According to Kristina Struve, Construction supervisor of the project, "The main task was to remove an older, faded play structure from the back yard of the houses and replace it with a brand new one donated from Costco. Along with 2 staff and 6 AmeriCorps, we were joined by volunteers Dick Gram and Jim McGwa, who are both crazy hard workers!

Kelly West of EDVP wrote in a email:

"It's been so cute to see how excited the kids are about their new play structure. You guys did such a wonderful job!"

It was a fun challenge, and it gave us the opportunity to expand our skills from house-building to swing set-assembling. We're so glad we go the chance to do this for the women and children of EDVP."
