Two Homes Are Ready to be Dedicated!
The two homes due for dedication at the Ridge are very close to completion! The carpets, countertops, light fixtures, and everything else that makes a house a home are all installed! I was just out there yesterday doing final touch up painting until my eyes went fuzzy.
If you haven’t been to a Home Dedication, I highly recommend it! It’s the time when we all get together and celebrate the long awaited completion of the family’s home. It’s always heartwarming and it really reminds you of what this organization is about and why we’re all here.
The dedication ceremony will start at the Community Center followed by the home blessings at the individual houses, and then a potluck!
Home Dedication Ceremonies for the Bel and Kordit families: April 5th 2pm-4pm Koinonia Ridge Community Center 36912 S.E. Gravenstein Ct., Snoqualmie WA 98065
If you haven’t gotten a chance to come out and build with us yet, there are still opportunities at the Ridge! We still have three more houses to finish! Check out our Volunteer Calendar and sign up now! Labels: Bel, dedication, Kordit, spring
What is a Family Advocate?
Habitat for Humanity supports partner families with family advocates. Advocates are volunteers who are willing to build a rapport with a new Habitat family and help them meet their pre-ownership obligations, such as 500 hours of sweat equity and monthly homeowner training courses. Habitat advocates are trained on how to support and empower homeowners. They dedicate time on the construction site, answer questions for homeowners and act as liaisons between the affiliate and the family partners. Many lasting friendships have developed between Habitat families and their advocates. Each new partner family is provided an advocate. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, contact Emily Fortman, Family Services Manager, at efortman@habitatekc.org for more information.
