Family Advocate Volunteers

Serving as a Family Advocate

Family Advocates are volunteers who are paired with newly selected Partner Families and act as mentors, supporters and motivators to Habitat for Humanity's homeowners. Family Advocates help families to complete their pre-homeownership requirements, attend meetings and workshops, and finish their sweat equity hours. After families move into their new homes, Advocates continue to help by easing the transition into homeownership.

Being a Family Advocate requires a 12-16 month commitment, but the hours are flexible and the work is immensely rewarding. Ideal candidates are patient, dedicated, and enthusiastic about helping a family with a “hand up” (not a hand-out). Volunteers who appreciate cultural and religious diversity are strongly encouraged to apply for Family Advocate positions.

We need Family Advocates for newly selected Partner Families who will build homes in Issaquah and Snoqualmie. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please complete and submit the Non-construction Individual Volunteer Form indicating your preference to become a Family Advocate.
