Office Volunteers

Our Office Volunteers do everything from answering phones and entering data to making copies and stuffing envelopes.

Office volunteers need to be available during weekday business hours 9am to 5pm. The majority of office positions require a 3 hour per week commitment, which is usually scheduled as a morning (10am to 1pm) or afternoon (1pm to 4pm) shift. The timing is flexible depending on the position.

If you are interested in volunteering in our office or if you have a special skill you'd like to offer, please review these Office Volunteer positions and then complete and submit an Non-construction Volunteer Form indicating your volunteer preferences and availability. If you are specially trained or specifically skilled at something, submit a form and let us know! Our office staff often has project ideas floating about waiting for a volunteer who can actually complete them.

Office Volunteers

Receptionist / Misc. Office Tasks - We are looking for volunteer receptionists for morning or afternoon shifts during business hours. These volunteers will split their time between responding to calls and completing miscellaneous office tasks.

Mailing Specialists - Every so often we send out newsletters, invitations, and thank you notes to keep in touch with our Habitat community. The written communications are printed, folded, stuffed into envelopes, sealed and addressed, all in-house! If you're interested, sign up today and well contact you for the next mailing. Or, watch for opportunities to appear on our Volunteer Calendar.

Interim Volunteer Coordinator - We are looking for a volunteer to schedule jobsite volunteers, both groups and individuals, for our two worksites between July 15th and September 15th. This volunteer needs to be proficient at Microsoft Outlook and needs to be available before July 15th to be trained on managing our Volunteer Calendar web scheduling interface.

Database Entry and Reporting - 90% of the labor used for building Habitat houses is provided by volunteers who work on the jobsites. Companies and corporate sponsors will often match donations and volunteer hours worked by their employees at the jobsites. Therefore, we track all volunteer hours for the individual volunteers. We are looking for database volunteers to work in our office entering jobsite volunteer information and hours into our database.  We are willing to train someone who has database experience.

This data entry position can grow into a role that would require the volunteer to pull various reports from our database for different activities and reporting needs. This would also include querying data to build mailing lists and exporting the data into mailing labels. This is a role that is called upon on an as-needed basis; some weeks it might simply be data entry, and some weeks it might be creating some reports. We are willing to train someone who has database and mail merge experience.

Graphic Design - We are looking for volunteers with graphic design skills to work with our Special Events Committees designing event flyers, brochures, photo editing, web banners, invitations, programs, and other marketing materials. Volunteers could work in our offices on our computers using Photoshop, PowerPoint or Word. Ideally, volunteers would have access to their own graphic design software and be able to work remotely for best results. We are especially looking for volunteers to bring a creative element to our marketing materials in terms of layout, design, and creation. Please let us know your availability and areas of expertise/interest.

Photo and File Management - We are looking for volunteers who can manage and organize our online server files. All documents and photos are archived online, yet are in need of organization and file cleanup. Volunteers should be comfortable working with online servers, have a strong sense of file organization and management, and know how to/be willing to learn how to download photos from digital cameras. Additionally, this volunteer would also upload photos to our online photo gallery which is intuitive and does not require experience. Volunteers would work at our offices in Redmond on a flexible schedule, anytime Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am and 4pm. Please let us know the days and hours that work best for your schedule.

Videographer - Each year Habitat for Humanity EKC produces a video to show at our annual fundraising event that features our work over the past year. We are looking for a volunteer who has access to their own equipment and would be willing to video our jobsites, special events, sponsorship activities, our Habitat families, home dedication ceremonies, and other activities throughout the year. Please let us know your availability and interest.

Editor - Volunteers with strong writing and editing skills are needed for editing website content, marketing materials, newsletters, brochures, thank-you letters and other correspondence. Volunteers could work remotely, or at our offices in Redmond on a flexible schedule, anytime Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am and 4pm. Please let us know the days and hours that work best for your schedule.

Day-of-Event Volunteers - Help with logistical set-up, running, and break down of special events. Volunteers are only needed when there are events, at the event. Volunteers are asked to arrive about an hour before the event and stay about an hour after the event.
