Youth Volunteer Policy
With a focus on Safety and Supervision.

Youth Groups ages 16 & 17

  • Groups will be scheduled on weekends and weekdays with the permission of the construction supervisor.
  • All groups must have a ratio of one (1) adult to every five (5) youths.
  • The volunteer day must begin with a site and construction safety presentation as well as a summary of the work to be accomplished.
  • Group leaders will be provided with Waiver of Liability forms which must be signed in advance of the workday by a parent or legal guardian.
  • All volunteers must sign in on the sign in sheet at the work site before beginning the work day.
  • Youth may not work on the exterior of the home above the first floor level.
  • Youth may not work on ladders or scaffolding.
  • Youth may not operate power equipment.
  • For safety reasons, the workday will end when the attention of the youth is lost. While this is a “judgment call” such a determination will be made by the construction supervisor.
  • Dangerous activity or horseplay will not be tolerated on the work site.

Individuals ages 16 & 17

  • Individuals ages 16 & 17 must be accompanied to the site by an adult who is legally responsible for them.
  • Individuals that show up without an adult will NOT be allowed to work.
  • All above rules apply.

Youth 15 & Under

  • Youth age 14 and 15 will be permitted on the work site for specific, designated projects only.
  • Approved projects will be scheduled during off-peak construction hours.
  • Adult ratio, Waiver of Liability, and safety guidelines as above apply.
